Summer Activity Supplies
Keep all like items together in the same place. This will it make it easier for you to find what you need when you need it and put it back when you are finished!
For example: Pool items- clean towels, toys, hats, suntan lotions, sunglasses, water bottles, a big tote, etc. Barbeque items- spatula, tongs, foil, etc. Beach items- towels, sand toys, bags, change of clothes, etc.
House Projects
Write a master list of all the projects you would like to get done around the house. Break this list down by priority. Make deadlines for yourself and carve time out in your daily calendar to get the projects done. Although multi-tasking is a skill, sometimes it can hurt you, especially for organizing projects. Try to complete the whole project first before going on to your second.
Kids Weekly Scheduled Activities
Summer is a great time for building memories. The excitement for children being out of school for the summer can quickly turn into “I’m Bored”… I recommend looking at your week ahead every Sunday and planning out what you will be doing for the week.
This can be as simple as going to a new park on Monday, your local park on Wednesday, the library on Friday. Check out your local community centers for camps and special activities to attend all summer long. Schedule a play date with friends. Create new activities for your children. There are tons of books available to help you with craft projects and ideas to keep your kids busy. I recommend, The Preschoolers Busy Book, by Trish Kuffner, and The Big Book of Boy Stuff, by Bart King. Set a time everyday to read to your kids and keep learning a priority.
I believe in having days where nothing is planned, just a bucket of water and hoses outside can make a hot afternoon a really good time. With a good balance of down time and scheduled activities, it is sure to leave your children with very happy memories!
